Christians also have an obligation to pray for them. I Timothy 2:1, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable the sight of God our Saviour.”
As Christians we are instructed to respect civil government. Romans 13:1, “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” There are times when it becomes necessary to obey God rather than man when there is any law or rule which prevents us from doing what God requires of us, but we should make every effort to be good examples as law abiding citizens.
