Title
Confessing christ
Description
In the first part of this chapter, Jesus is going to use some form of the word fear seven times. So his aim is to help his disciples in verse one that he speaking to primarily, but the masses are hearing what he's saying. He wants to help them with their fears. He wants to help us with ours. The word translated thought in this particular chapter means anxiety and worry. There are many, many things for which to worry about many things that tempt us to be worried about many things that cause us to have anxiety for which Jesus will address in this chapter. We'll just look at the first 12 verses as it relates to this fear and confessing Christ. But first point out that whenever we identify our own fears and anxieties and worries, there's always at the root of that fear. Some desire, something we want, we might call it a two sided coin, a one side, there's a fear of something on the other side, there's the desire for something. And in the middle we identified the treasure that produces that fear. For example, Jesus says in this chapter, beware of covetousness for a man's life, consistent, not in the abundance of the things which he possesses. Then he gives the parable of the rich fool. And then he says, don't be anxious.
