Description or narrative
As of February 2021, the Holmes County Amish were reporting decreasing vaccine acceptance. In a survey conducted in 2020, with a 39% response rate from Amish families, 59% did not vaccinate their children. Notably, 14% refused all vaccinations, while 75% reported that they would specifically reject the COVID-19 vaccine. The article then discusses potential efforts to attempt to increase vaccination rates in this community. Efforts to improve vaccination include actions such as physician advocacy, mentorship with peers, father-directed education, and strengthening a close partnership with the Church leadership.
