What’s Jesus doing here? Our experience of Jesus abiding is the experience of his word, abiding living remaining in us. Now, if the word is abiding and living and remaining, what do you ask for? Let me ask it this way. If the word is not abiding, if the word is not remaining, what do you ask for in a COVID-19 crisis? You asked for what you want. Clearly, Lord, I don't want to be here. I don't want this to happen. I want this to stop. And of course, to ask for God to bring it in speedily is not a sinful request, but if the word is not a body, when it comes to COVID-19 or any crisis, all that, we ask for is what we want independent of what God wants. But if the words of Christ and the word of Moses that apparently Nehemiah was praying.
