One of the things that has concerned me these last couple months is the significant increase in alcohol sales while people are largely at home. The marketing research firm Nielsen said last week that total alcohol sales from stores in the United States have grown 26.5% between mid-March and mid-May compared to the same period a year ago. Online sales of alcohol are up much more than that. While neither the Hebrew Bible nor the New Testament condemn the use of alcohol itself, each condemns drunkenness.
