Paul’s best-known statement on drunkenness is ‘Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18). Christians are to surrender control and judgment, not to alcohol, but to the Holy Spirit, who will teach us how to glorify God. The coming of the Lord should motivate believers to be sober, mentally alert, and morally vigilant.
